The Drake’s Hoard

Welcome in Nestlings! Here you’ll find my thoughts and collections on books, crafts, recipes, and other various hobbies I’ve dabbled and collected over time. While my main focus here is going to be books, I may also drop a few nuggets from my food prep journey and my crafty passion of the time. (As of posting this in June 2025, that would be crochet.)

Some will be first reactions at hot and new titles. And others will be first time reactions to classics, or nostalgic re-reads to both major hits and hidden indie gems. You may even find debates about unpopular book opinions. We’re mood readers here, so the genre can vary, but most of the time we’ll wander back to the depths of Fantasy and/or Romance. That said, this is primarily an 18+ book blog. While a good number of my books may be safe for all ages, a good portion may contain explicit content with adult themes or darker topics not fit for minors.

Got a particular title you’d like shared? Maybe a preferred format or edit? Let me know! I can’t promise it’ll be quick on my ever evolving tbr pile, but it will get done.

WARNING: This is a safe space for readers. Each review will contain a content warning list at the top of the post, but we are all literate people here. When at all possible, we will not be limiting the variety of books shown here. No book is everyone’s cup of tea, and we expect the reader to check for their own limits and comfort levels before reading a review or recommendation. We will also not stand for shaming or gaslighting anyone for having a different comfort level! I will not be having anyone be bullied for not being able to handle a topic, nor will I allow someone not comfortable with a topic to bully someone that can manage it!

Please don’t force yourself to read something that makes you uncomfortable just because it’s popular. And don’t solely take my word for whether a book is worth reading. (Example: Unpopular opinion, but despite my love of Fantasy and dragons, I am unable to get into the Game of Thrones franchise. It is difficult to explain, but just watching the first few episodes made me uncomfortable. There is nothing wrong with that, and I do enjoy the aesthetics of some merch, but I also recognize that I cannot handle that at this time.)
